“Lo (pre)texto teatral: autoría, denuncia y militancia” by PACO ROMEU
Synopsis
Biography of the author
Paco Romeu (Valencia, 1967) is a bilingual and self-taught dramaturg. He has cultivated other artistic areas, such as screenwriting, musical composition and short stories. He had no connection with the theatre until 2000, when he began to regularly compose the soundtrack for some productions for the Escola Municipal de Teatre de Picassent (Valencia) and to attend adult classes as an auditor. In 2002, he began writing texts for the children’s group and continued to do so until 2012. The adult group staged MANIFEST 04 (2004), VOCABULARI (2007) and LA TRONÀ (2010), productions that allowed him to base his dramaturgy on theatrical research processes developed directly with the actors. In 2011, he began to create texts unrelated to the EMT, thus freeing himself from the need to write plays with a large number of characters or compendiums of short scenes. Since then, he has received numerous awards and his texts have been published by various publishers and organisations, and performances and dramatised readings have been held in Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona. In 2016, he founded the TEATRE CORRENT theatre company
